Wow, time flys when you're having fun (and over-loaded with work and school). None the less, I thought I would update this and add a bit more of my life to the sea of cyberspace. January was all in all a fairly productive month. To recap it briefly, I went ice climbing at 26 below near Healy, Alaska, which was very fun, but VERY cold at the same time. It had been a long time since I felt my hands "burning" as the blood came rushing back into the wooden blocks that my hands felt like. The week after that I went to climb some ice at the Ice Towers in Fox, and while I was lowering my buddy Shane I got hit with a piece of falling ice right in the elbow. It was crazy, instantly my whole world went dizzy, my arm went numb, and there was nothing I could do but hold Shane there with my one good arm while the feeling slowly returned to me, and I regained concious thought. Finally just in the last couple of days my arm is once again feeling normal and I am starting to work out again, which is a definite bonus. Other than that I haven't been out climbing too much because of the arm injury, I have gotten out xc-skiing a bit, and yesterday Shane, Rusty, and I did a little downhill skiing at Birch Hill. We weren't gonna let the twenty-below weather keep us off the hill.
Anyway though, between school, work, and attempting to train for climbing, I am pretty much overwhelmed. Rusty, Shane, and I are planning a trip into the Thayer hut in a couple of weeks to hopefully bag a peak or two and do some backcountry skiing, but that of course will depend upon snow conditions, so I will keep you posted. Other than that, just school... So wish me luck...
